Scrapbooking and Stamping with Vellum Vellum is versatile! Use it to add depth to your cards or layouts. Vellum overlays will give photos a muted, romantic look. You can also use it over printed scrapbook paper for a soft background. Click on the images for recipes. Try stamping your background under the vellum on white cardstock or on the vellum with your main image on the cardstock.
Close To My Heart® vellum paper is acid and lignin free. I love to use it for scrapbook journaling! You can write with My Legacy® writers on it or use your computer printer on ink jet transparency setting for neat journaling (and you can spell-check).
Vellum works great on scrapbook layouts and cards to simulate anything transparent. Windows, shower curtains, bugs' wings and ice are just a few ideas. Try adding vellum pockets or envelopes to your stamped cards or scrapbook layouts. With Close To My Heart® pastel, metallic and printed vellum the possibilities are endless.
Vellum can be dry and heat embossed. Both these looks are beautiful. Try embossing an open stamp design and then coloring in with a marker. Imagine stained glass windows on your cards or scrapbook layouts!
1. Wash your hands. If your fingers are greasy the fingerprints will show. 2. When stamping, vellum is somewhat slippery. 3. Vellum is not porous like paper so inks take longer to dry. 4. Remember, velum will curl and burn faster than paper when heat embossing. Putting a piece of foil under your vellum when heating will keep the heat more even. Just keep your eye on it. 5. Creases show as white marks on vellum so they are very evident. 6. Have fun and experiment. Remember, it's only paper!
